The morbid fascination with serial killers which seems to be an American phenomenon is exemplified in Ed Gein. The reasons that drive a person to commit such acts seem inexplicable and most will never understand what really motivated Ed Gein's crafty hands to manage what today most would consider modern art: Bowls made from human skulls, human skin covering several chair seats, a pair of lips on a drawstring for a window shade, a belt made from human female nipples, and a lampshade made from the skin from a human face. Neither Warhol nor Duchamp could compete with him when it comes to taking something out of context and in doing so, making it into art.
Ed Gein is nothing compared to the real serial killers and mass murders that rule our nations. Obama, Harper, Bush, Clinton, and Trudeau: These are the real fascinating characters that play with humans as if they were puppets or dolls. And they do so without any remorse for the killing of millions of people in as many ways as possible. And much like Gein, they salute their kills by using them as trophies. Most serial killers construct inside their heads a certain reasoning for what they do. They see only the purpose, and nothing of the wrong nor to justify the need for their inflictions. Our real mass murderers not only see the rhyme and reason but they even go so far as to convince us that their insanity is actually sanity. They build a framework that is suspended from reality. We don't realize that we are all part of the framework that legitimises the real serial killers and mass murders. We vote these butchers into power and give them our permission to satisfy their lust for blood however they see fit. They use every tool available to convince us and makes us accessories to mass murder. Whether it be the media, the military, the economy, or politics, you name it, they have already managed to mesh it into a grand scheme so they can bathe in our blood. In a sense, we are the collective consciousness of these people. We walk around and go about our everyday lives as if nothing has happened or nothing is happening. We are largely unaware of the killing, and even worse, most remain unaffected by it. We are intrigued by the minds of Jack the Ripper and Richard Ramirez. Don't look further than your hands to understand what humanity is capable of. We tune out of serial mode and into everything is Ok mode. We all claim separation from these acts. Our personality splits and ignores the acts. We are the insanity that governs this world. We are the bloodthirsty serial and mass murders. We take no responsibility. We are sick, and no amount of therapy will make us better. Every death is in our hands, but at this point it's too big and too far gone to understand. You probably still don't see it and still wonder what a serial killer looks like and acts like. But look no further than yourself. We all exemplify this madness identically with our day-to-day actions.
Whether as a society or individuals, we are at no liberty to claim innocence from these acts. Regardless of how we choose to see ourselves, we are all responsible for the killing of innocents. We are all serial killers and mass murders. We see shortcomings in others but never in ourselves. We are the cells and organisms that operate this giant Ed Gein or Jeffery Dahmer, and we all bask in the glory of our killings. We like to call it freedom, democracy, and liberty.
