Accept at Club Soda
On Sunday evening Accept’s Blood Of The Nations tour rolled into Montreal with new singer Mark Tornillo and regaled all in attendance with a superb show! Like most people I’m not too keen on “the new singer†and I was dismissive of Mark Tornillo at first, an Udo Dirkschneider free Accept didn’t seem appealing to me. But upon listening to the new album from start to finish I was won over by Mark Tornillo (former T.T Quick frontman) Blood Of The Nations is an utterly exquisite album!
The evening’s entertainment began with the war themed Power-Metal styling’s of Sabaton who took the stage while Europe’s classic song The Final Countdown was blaring over the sound-system, very epic intro. Sabaton’s show on Sunday was their Canadian debut all of their Montreal fans were out in full force to welcome them and to sing along to all their World War I & II inspired war tunes. Songs of note from Sabaton’s set include Cliffs of Gallipoli, Aces in Exile, 40:1 and Coat of Arms. Sabaton ended their lively set with Metal Machine from their second album Primo Victoria and from the great reaction this Swedish band got they will be back to rock Montreal in the future.
The legendary Accept took the stage next, most people are only aware of their 80’s success but Accept’s been around since the late 60’s. Original Accept frontman Udo Dirkschneider formed the band under the name Band X in 1968, they officially became Accept in 1976. Since then they’ve gone through numerous band line-up changes and now with a new singer they’re still touring the world over and putting on kickass rockin’ shows. Sunday night’s show at Club Soda was no exception, a few songs into Accept’s set I forgot that Mark Tornillo was the new singer because he performed Udo’s classic songs so damn well.
Accept are currently on their world tour promoting their twelfth album Blood Of The Nations and playing tunes from their multiple decade spanning career. Songs from their albums Breaker, Restless & Wild, Balls To The Wall and their new album made up the bulk of Accept’s impressive set. All in attendance were treated to an outstanding night of Power-Metal, I hadn’t been to a concert in about a month and it felt like a lifetime between shows. So thank you very much Sabaton and Accept for giving me my fix, these days my only vice is Heavy Metal shows. So rock on mother-fuckers and I’ll see y’all at the metal shows!
